Organizational Development
“We should work on our process, not the outcome of our processes”
– W. Edwards Deming
Organizational Development is an umbrella term we use to describe how we help organizations accomplish their strategic goals in the most efficient manner. This can involve anything from restructuring the organization to changing people’s roles within the existing structure, to implementing new processes for getting existing jobs done.
Why Is It Necessary?
All outcomes are the results of one or more processes. In order for the outcome to improve, the processes involved in creating it must also improve. This doesn’t always mean that the process is inherently bad – but it may mean that some fine-tuning is necessary. Often, our clients are surprised at what a big difference small changes can make.
Of course, it is also sometimes necessary to completely revamp cumbersome or ineffective processes, and we can help you through this as well. Change doesn’t have to cause angst within an organization. At Vision Consulting, one of our goals is to make change as painless and seamless as possible, and to leave behind a team of well-equipped, confident individuals ready to put the new processes into practice.
How Does Vision Consulting Help?
First and foremost, we visit your organization and talk extensively with people at all levels of the organization to get a clear picture of what is and is not working. We start with your strategic goals, and then work backwards to determine the most efficient way of achieving it, revamping processes and structures that hinder progress along the way.
Due to our decades of experience in managing organizational change, we know how to quickly and efficiently identify roadblocks and strategize solutions; but we also recognize that you are the organizational expert. We use a collaborative, team-focused approach to solving problems that involve the people who will be using these processes on a day-to-day basis.
In particular, some things we focus on include:
- Organizational design
- Process improvement
- Work place development/ evolution
- Retreats
- Skill building workshops (e.g., Teambuilding, Conflict management)
